Amazing history
It’s not for nothing that Boston Bruins are considered top dogs in the NHL. They have won the Stanley Cup six times so far; 1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, 1972, and 2011. The first team to join the National Hockey League, the Boston Bruins lifted their first Stanley Cup after defeating the New York Angels in 1929. The first few Bruins teams featured some of the future Hall of Fame greats like Thompson, Eddie Shore and Aubrey Clapper. Between 1943 and 1958, Boston Bruins appeared in the finals 5 times, but surprisingly, lost all those matches to the amazement of their followers.
Rising like a phoenix
The 1960s were a dreadful period for the Bruins. Between 1960-61 to 1966-67, the Boston Bruins finished last in six of the seven National Hockey League Championships. The team was, figuratively, in the pits. Finally, it took the collective genius of Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito to resurrect the troubled team. Orr led his team to its first championship in several years in 1970. He was one of the most popular players that Bruins ever saw having bagged the Most Valuable Award of the league thrice. With such amazing players, there is no reason why Boston Bruins should not be one of the top dogs of NHL once again.
